This electronic-only stand-alone quick story sheds mild on the lifetime of enigmatic Magnus Bane, whose charming persona featured prominently on the pages of the New York Instances bestselling sequence The Mortal Devices and The Infernal Gadgets.

I like this higher than the earlier quick. The prose is smoother, the plot is tighter, and I really feel the temper of tragedy and comedy fits Magnus higher. The story about Peru I discover a bit rambling and too cute and solely captures my curiosity within the web page or two the place he thinks of his mom. Within the Peru story, Magnus himself appears a bit goofy and campy and reasonably lacks the comedic intelligence that I discover so charming within the hell gear sequence and the mortal instrument sequence. In The Runaway Queen, Magnus himself appears extra personable than in earlier outings, although as soon as once more I balk at being too reliant on camp to explain his ideas and persona. Nevertheless, it dwindled over time and I discovered myself having fun with the story increasingly more as I learn it. My solely downside with the ending is that it makes me surprise who Sophie is? This is not Sophie from ID is it? I’d have most well-liked the omitted title as a result of it distracts me from the ending.
